The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a major push to strengthen the state’s power infrastructure by fast-tracking 68 power transmission projects worth nearly ₹5,000 crore. The move is aimed at improving electricity distribution, meeting rising energy demand, and supporting future industrial growth across the state.
According to officials, the projects will be implemented through AP Transco and focus on expanding transmission capacity, upgrading substations, and improving grid reliability in urban and rural areas. The state government believes these upgrades are critical for sustaining long-term economic development and ensuring uninterrupted power supply.
Special Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand stated that these projects are being treated as a priority and all departments have been directed to ensure faster approvals and timely execution. The initiative is expected to create employment opportunities while also improving power access for industries, agriculture, and households.
Political observers see this as another major development-focused move by the Telugu Desam Party-led government under N. Chandrababu Naidu. Since returning to power, the administration has repeatedly emphasized infrastructure development and investor confidence.
Energy experts say improved transmission networks are essential for Andhra Pradesh’s future growth, especially as the state attracts new industries and expands renewable energy capacity.
