The investigation into the alleged harassment and religious conversion case linked to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Nashik has taken a significant turn, with former AIMIM Member of Parliament Imtiaz Jaleel’s name reportedly appearing in the police chargesheet.
According to reports, the development emerged during the questioning of AIMIM corporator Matin Patel, who was being investigated in connection with the whereabouts of one of the accused individuals, Nida Khan. Authorities claim that Khan was provided shelter in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after police launched their probe into the matter.
During questioning by the Crime Branch, Matin Patel reportedly referred investigators to former MP Imtiaz Jaleel multiple times whenever he was asked about Nida Khan’s location and movements. Sources familiar with the investigation stated that Patel repeatedly suggested that officers should seek answers from Jaleel regarding certain aspects of the case.
Nida Khan was arrested on May 7 in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar as part of the broader investigation. Following her arrest, investigators intensified their inquiries into individuals allegedly connected to the case. Matin Patel was questioned for several hours by the Crime Branch and was later summoned again as authorities continued gathering evidence and statements.
The controversy gained further attention after local authorities carried out demolition actions against structures allegedly linked to Matin Patel. The demolitions sparked a political debate between Maharashtra minister Sanjay Shirsat and AIMIM leader Imtiaz Jaleel.
At the time, Jaleel criticized the demolition action, questioning the urgency with which authorities acted. He argued that family members residing at the property should not suffer consequences for alleged actions committed by an individual. His remarks triggered a political exchange that drew attention across Maharashtra.
Investigators are now examining witness statements, documents, and other evidence submitted as part of the chargesheet. Based on the material collected so far, reports indicate that police may soon summon Imtiaz Jaleel for questioning to clarify certain issues connected to the investigation.
The case itself is being handled by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by Nashik Police. The SIT is currently probing multiple cases registered in relation to allegations involving the Nashik unit of Tata Consultancy Services. Authorities are examining claims of harassment, coercion, and other alleged misconduct connected to the complaints filed.
Meanwhile, TCS has reiterated its commitment to maintaining a safe and professional work environment. The company has stated that it follows a strict zero-tolerance policy toward harassment, discrimination, or coercion of any kind. TCS also confirmed that employees accused in the case have been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
Legal experts note that being mentioned in a chargesheet does not imply guilt and that all individuals involved are entitled to due legal process. Investigators are expected to continue collecting evidence and recording statements before reaching any conclusions.
As the inquiry progresses, political observers and legal analysts are closely monitoring developments, given the involvement of high-profile political figures and one of India’s largest corporate employers. More details are expected to emerge as the investigation moves forward.
