A fresh complaint has emerged in the ongoing workplace harassment case linked to a BPO associated with Tata Consultancy Services in Nashik, where a fourth survivor has come forward with serious allegations. She claims that despite repeatedly reporting inappropriate behaviour by a colleague, her concerns were not addressed and she was instead asked by senior officials to “let the matter go.”
According to her account, the alleged misconduct began soon after she joined the company during her induction training in 2023. She stated that the accused employee, Raza Memon, initially approached her under the pretext of casual interaction, asking her to respond to messages and riddles privately and insisting that their conversations remain confidential. At the time, she felt uncomfortable but chose not to report the incident immediately, as she was new to the workplace and unsure how to proceed.
Over time, she alleged that the behaviour became more serious. The accused reportedly followed her within the office, attempted unnecessary physical proximity, and initiated conversations that made her uneasy. Feeling distressed, she eventually raised the issue with her immediate supervisors. However, instead of taking formal action, she claims she was advised to be cautious, avoid being alone, and stay within groups—responses she felt placed the burden on her rather than addressing the accused’s actions.
The survivor further alleged that after she began raising concerns, she faced retaliation. Rumours were reportedly spread about her personal life, including false claims about relationships with colleagues. Even after her marriage, she claimed that inappropriate remarks continued, with comments being made about her personal life and private matters.
She also described instances where her workload was allegedly manipulated as a form of pressure. According to her, system settings were altered so that she received calls at an unusually high frequency, making her work environment more stressful and difficult to manage.
Despite escalating the issue to higher authorities, including senior management, she alleged that no concrete steps were taken. Instead, she claims that certain officials attempted to downplay her concerns and discourage her from pursuing the matter further. This lack of action, she believes, created an environment where such behaviour continued unchecked.
In addition to her own experience, she mentioned another incident involving a colleague who allegedly made inappropriate comments and advances, further highlighting what she described as a pattern of misconduct within the workplace.
The survivor has now filed a formal legal complaint against the individuals involved, seeking accountability and action. Her statement underscores concerns about workplace safety, the handling of harassment complaints, and the responsibility of organizations to ensure a secure environment for employees.
This case has once again brought attention to the importance of strong internal mechanisms, transparent investigations, and timely action in addressing workplace harassment, ensuring that employees feel safe and supported when they come forward with complain.
