Political and administrative pressure is mounting on the Andhra Pradesh government after MSME contractors staged protests over delayed payments under the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme. The protest, held in multiple parts of the state, highlighted growing frustration among small and medium contractors who claim pending bills are severely affecting their businesses and livelihoods.
According to contractors, many projects under the rural drinking water mission were completed months ago, but payments have not been released. They allege that continuous delays are creating financial stress, forcing some contractors to halt ongoing work and cut labor costs.
The issue has now taken a political turn, with opposition leaders criticizing the state government over administrative inefficiency and demanding immediate payment clearance. They argue that delayed payments could negatively impact development work and public trust.
Government officials, however, stated that efforts are underway to clear pending bills and streamline payment systems. Sources indicate that the administration is reviewing fund allocation and department-level approvals to resolve the issue quickly.
