The Special Investigation Team examining the Ram Mandir donation issue has been expanded, according to Vishwa Hindu Parishad president Alok Kumar. The development follows suggestions associated with Supreme Court proceedings and adds specialist expertise to the investigation.
Forensic accounting expertise added
Current reporting says the Uttar Pradesh government expanded the SIT under a senior police officer to include a forensic accounting expert, an auditor and additional senior officers. The stated objective is to strengthen scrutiny of financial records and ensure a comprehensive investigation.
VHP says issue should not be politicised
Alok Kumar said the organisation had acknowledged the reported theft involving temple offerings and argued that accountability should be pursued through the investigation rather than partisan claims.
Investigation still underway
The expansion of an SIT is not a finding of guilt against any individual. Conclusions should be based on evidence gathered by investigators and any subsequent judicial proceedings.
Why specialist scrutiny matters
Financial investigations can require forensic examination of transactions, records and audit trails. Adding accounting expertise can help investigators distinguish procedural failures from potentially unlawful conduct.
