Andhra Pradesh HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh has said the state should aim to become a national model for speed, innovation and institutional execution. Speaking at the Pan-IIT Andhra Pradesh Summit 2026 in Vijayawada, he invited industry and technology leaders to contribute to the state’s development agenda.
AP as an innovation testbed
Lokesh described Andhra Pradesh as a potential sandbox for new ideas, arguing that successful initiatives implemented in the state could later be adopted elsewhere. He linked this approach to competitive federalism among Indian states.
Focus on institutional speed
The minister said the government wants to move beyond improvised solutions and institutionalise faster execution. The policy challenge will be translating that ambition into measurable improvements in approvals, infrastructure, education and investment outcomes.
Pan-IIT participation
The summit brought together members of the IIT alumni ecosystem. Lokesh highlighted its role in entrepreneurship, research and technology and sought greater engagement with Andhra Pradesh.
Political and policy context
The remarks represent the state government’s development pitch. Outcomes will ultimately need to be assessed against investment, employment, public-service and implementation data.
