The Union government has moved into the implementation phase of Special Campaign 6, a month-long administrative drive covering ministries, departments and their field establishments. The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances is coordinating the campaign, which runs through October 31.
What the campaign covers
According to the Press Information Bureau, ministries and departments have identified more than 12.45 lakh cleanliness campaign sites. The programme also targets disposal of public grievances, parliamentary assurances, references from Members of Parliament and state governments, and review of physical and electronic files.
Large file-review exercise
Government data reported as of October 5 lists more than 19.52 lakh physical files due for review and over 5.54 lakh electronic files placed for review. More than 6.18 lakh public grievances and 19,733 grievance appeals have also been identified under campaign targets.
New focused-activity component
This year’s programme includes a dedicated day on which ministries and departments are expected to extend a focused activity across attached offices, subordinate offices, autonomous bodies and field units. Activities can include cleanliness practices, grievance redressal, better office-space management and plantation drives.
The government says the campaign is intended to improve administrative efficiency and reduce pending work. Actual results will depend on the disposal and completion figures reported during and after the implementation period.
