In a refreshing break from traditional views, a family in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, chose to celebrate their daughter’s divorce as a moment of strength and a fresh start rather than sorrow.
The woman, who got married to an army officer in 2018, reportedly faced continuous physical and emotional harassment from her in-laws soon after marriage. Even after the birth of her son, the situation did not improve. Eventually, she approached the family court seeking divorce, which was granted on the 4th of this month.
Instead of treating it as a painful ending, her family welcomed her with joy. As she stepped out of the court, they greeted her with garlands, sweets, and a small procession, symbolizing her return to a life of dignity and independence.
Her father shared that it was his responsibility to bring his daughter out of an unhappy environment. The woman also encouraged others to be aware, independent, and confident before making life decisions like marriage.
