Chicken prices in Andhra Pradesh have increased significantly over the past few days, causing concern among consumers and restaurant owners. In many districts, the price of chicken has crossed ₹320 to ₹350 per kilogram, which is higher than usual. Traders say the main reason for the price hike is the increase in demand during the festival season along with reduced supply from poultry farms. Extreme heat conditions have also affected chicken production, leading to lower availability in the market. Poultry farmers stated that the cost of feed and transportation has also gone up, which is adding to the final price. Consumers are finding it difficult to afford non-vegetarian food regularly, while hotels and food stalls are also adjusting their menu prices due to the sudden increase in chicken rates.
